Riders in the Pedal Assist Quarter Horse to Purgatory will tour the 25 scenic miles from Durango to Purgatory Resort. After riding through the gorgeous Animas River Valley, you’ll tackle more than 2300 feet of vertical climb to finish among food, fun, and festivities in the Village Plaza.
This point-to-point tour is great for riders who require or want to try pedal assist, all while participating in the exuberance of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.

Registration fee is $55.
For participants who register before April 15, 2019, bib numbers will be mailed to you the first week of May with the exception of zip codes 81301/81302/81303/81122/81137/81326. Riders from those zip codes and riders registering after April 15, 2019 will collect bib numbers at final packet pickup on Friday, May 24, from 3-7 p.m. at Buckley Park (Main Avenue and 12th Street in Durango).
$10 of your entry fee is donated to numerous community organizations, including the Mercy Health Foundation.
Purgatory Resort is throwing a celebratory bash for all Quarter Horse riders. Families, friends, and guests are invited too! Food and entertainment will be available, so be sure to stash some cash or a credit card in your jersey before setting out for the ride.
A bike check will be staffed during the festivities, so you can secure your bike, change your clothes, and enjoy the party.
Purgatory Resort is offering transportation according to the schedule below. Shuttle tickets are $15 from Purgatory to Durango. Please make your shuttle reservations by Friday, May 25th by calling Purgatory Resort Dispatch at (970) 426-7282.
6:00 AM Purgatory to Durango Transit Center, arriving 6:45 AM
Note: The shuttle must depart promptly in order to allow the van sufficient time to return to Purgatory before the Highway 550 closure.

Purgatory will have a truck at Buckley Park (Main Avenue and 12th Street in Durango) on Friday from 3-7 p.m. for riders to drop off bags that they wish to have transported up to Purgatory Resort. The bags will be secured overnight and will be available on race morning at the Quarter Horse finish line.
