We are thrilled to invite the public to the 48th annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, a classic three-day cycling festival held each Memorial Day weekend in stunning Durango, Colorado.

Whether you are a rider or a spectator, an enthusiast or a hobbyist, we have events sure to delight and awe you. The variety of cycling events and family-friendly activities make the Iron Horse one of the grandest biking events in the Southwest.

The festivities at a glance:

Friday, May 24, 2019: The welcome party! Packet pickup and late registration for the riders. Beer garden, food, live music, cycling vendors, e-bike demos, and kids’ activities including the Alpine Bank Push Bike Park for the littlest riders. Held in Buckley Park in downtown Durango (Main Avenue and 12th Street) from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 25, 2019: A finish line unlike any other—celebrate all the riders in the Road Race and Citizen Tour at Memorial Park in Silverton from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This awesome mountain town comes alive for the festivities. We’ll have a beer garden, live music, food, vendors, and kids’ activities including the Alpine Bank Push Bike Park. Several Silverton establishments are also participating in the Mug Club that day.

Sunday, May 26, 2019: Buckley Park in downtown Durango is your home base for spectating all the day’s many cycling events. Watch the Mountain Bike Race, the Kids Race, the La Strada La Plata Gravel Ride, BMX Straight Rhythms, and the Cruzer Crit. Plus, Buckley Park will host live music, the food & beer garden, vendors, e-bike demos, the Kids’ Village (see below), and the Alpine Bank Push Bike Park. All this, all day, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Kids Village

Kids are a welcome part of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic! Each day offers various activities for our young guests. We’ll have bouncy houses, giant chess, jenga towers, face painting, balloons, the Alpine Bank Push Bike Park, helmet decorating, art classes, and more. The Kids Village is open 9:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.

Plus, we host the Sprite Kids Race on Sunday, May 26th.



Preventing traumatic brain injuries in our community. Mercy Regional Medical Center is dedicated to promoting health and wellness through injury prevention. The goal of Mercy's Gray Matters helmet program is to increase helmet usage in the community - especially among children and young adults who participate in sports that have a risk of traumatic brain injury.
