You can drop off a small bag of clothes at the packet pick up event Friday May 23 from 3PM-7PM. Look for the BAG DROP sign and truck. Please be sure to label your bag. Bags will be loaded onto the truck and delivered the next morning to Silverton ahead of the riders. There will be a last minute BAG DROP at the start the morning of the race. Labeled Bags must be dropped by 6:45am sharp.
The road closes at Purgatory at 7:30am. Please allow 45 minutes to get past the road closure. We recommend leaving Durango by 6:30am. The road opens back up at 1:30pm. Update: CDOT will be performing road maintenance at two areas around Coalbank pass, while they will not be working during the Iron Horse weekend, the road will be one lane at those points, so we do recommend leaving earlier as there may be traffic delays.
There is no parking allowed at City Market. Limited parking is available on East 3rd Avenue between East 29th and East 32nd. Riders are encouraged to carpool or bike to the start line.
Parking and overnight parking the night before the event. Please start by parking at Silverton Visitor Center, Kendall Mountain Rec Center, and then public streets. Please do not park on the main street, in front of alleys, driveways, or in lanes of traffic.
Aid stations are located at The bottom of Shalona Hill, Haviland Lake, Purgatory Nordic Center, and Coal Bank Pass. They provide liquids and food but no mechanical support. Porta-potties are available at key points along the course.
Return transportation is sold out. No return transportation is provided for the Quarter Horse event from Purgatory.
